Hiker Safety

The Friends welcome everyone who wants to get outdoors and explore the Wapack Trail and all it has to offer. We are fortunate that hiking in Southern New Hampshire is relatively safe compared to many other remote regions of the world. Still, hiking is not without its risks and hikers should be careful to respect the trail and the dangers it can present. If you are looking to learn more about hiking safe outdoors the National Park Service is a great resource:


Additionally, in recent years the State of New Hampshire has developed a program called Hike Safe. Originally formed as a joint effort between the White Mountain National Forest and NH Fish & Game, the program has expanded and become adopted throughout the US. There are a number of useful resource on their site that cover topics such as essential gear or considerations for hiking in the different seasons.
